Hop-Tu-Naa and Half Term
Saturday, October 24, 2009
Hop-Tu-Naa has been celebrated on the Island for many years with turnips being used to create fantastical, wintery lanterns. Unfortunately, over the years American Trick or Treat traditions and pumpkin lanterns have become more dominant - in an attempt to help to redress the balance we have embraced the turnip as our decorative motif this season.
We are also encouraging our members to create scary little monsters out of basic turnip shapes as part of our Turnip Head - Big Draw event.

As a little extra activity we are also having a Hop-Tu-Naa 'treasure' hunt (don't go looking for gold!) for anyone visiting the library during half term.
HAPPY HOP-TU-NAA!
