Valentine's Day Project

In 2008 the library staff wanted to show support for local and North West boys who were fighting in Iraq with The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, so we set up a project to send hand-decorated cards to The Regiment made by members of the library.

The Regiment were very grateful for the support we had shown and five soldiers visited the library to thank children and parents and to present us with a Regimental photograph (see Galleries for images of this event).

We would like to repeat the goodwill gesture this year, to show the troops that they are still in our thoughts, by sending them cards for Valentine's Day. We will be sending the cards to The Regiment in Afghanistan and also expanding the project by sending them to Selly Oak Hospital and Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre as well.

If you would like to take part please come to the library where you can choose from a selection of six specially designed cards, and then get creative or simply add a message of comfort and support.

Thank you.
