Zombies and Monsters Workshops

For the final days of half-term the library was full to bursting with people wanting to learn how to draw some scary zombies and terrifying monsters.

Local artists Juan Moore, Rachael Ansell and Tom Egan hosted three brilliant workshops at the library over half-term. They taught everyone a few basic drawing skills, how to create joint-limbed characters and there was also a joint activity to create a large monster 3D collage

The sessions were very popular and there were lots of requests for Juan, Tom and Rachael to come back and host some more workshops.

If you're interested in learning how to draw and would like to go on a waiting list for future workshops contact us on 673123

Thank you Rachael, Tom and Juan for such fantastic sessions!

Juan Moore - Illustrated talk

Juan Moore presented a fascinating talk at the library for The Big Draw. He created an illustration before our eyes and talked about his techniques - only using three colours - his influences as well as having some lively interactions with young members of the audience who were keen to know more about the exact why Juan approaches his work - not to mention the correct name for trousers!

The finished work was a romantic image in perfect keeping with the Halloween (Hop Tu Naa) mood, and Juan very generously donated the work to the library

Thank you Juan for a great talk and for the beautiful piece of work!

Big Animation - Big Sucess

What a great half-term event we had at the library.

Krista Magee is such an inspiring teacher and we'd like to thank her for organising such a fantastic animation event and also thank all the young people who took part in the four day sessions - their creativity and imagination was fantastic.

We'd also really like to thank Michael Sandle and Juan Moore for sharing their considerable skills and knowledge with the students, it was an amazing opportunity to have two such talented artists taking part in these workshops

Very soon we will have page on our main site which will contain images from the event and the final animation. We're hoping to hold a similar event next October - Bigger and even better, if that's possible!

Big Draw - Big Animation 2010

Any young person who is over 8 yrs old and interested in animation and drawing should get down to the library during half-term (Wednesday to Saturday) and take part in our Big Animation workshops

Krista Magee is a brilliant animation tutor and has come up with instant animation idea that will fill the library with Hop-Tu-Naa witches, ghosts and all sorts of spooks and ghouls as she and her teams bring Ginny the Witch to life

These Big Animation sessions are part of the UK campaign The Big Draw and we have an incredible couple of artist on hand during the week to help out with some drawing skills

Royal Academician and internationally renowned artist Michael Sandle will be at the library on 28th to 30th and illustrator/artist Juan Moore who's work is published in The Guardian and The New Yorker will be resident on the 29th

This really is a fantastic opportunity not only to make incredible animations but to meet and be taught by such amazing artists - not to be missed!
